PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Mexico: Education & Child Development at Technológico de Monterrey program is affiliated with Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM), better known as Tec. The Tec is a major university system with 32 campuses throughout Mexico. CSU IP students study at Tec’s Querétaro campus, which was founded in 1975 and enrolls about 5,000 students in 19 majors. CSU students may pursue coursework in most of these areas, subject to their language ability, or concentrate on Spanish language learning.

Mexico - La METAThe Mexico: Education & Child Development at Technológico de Monterrey program is an excellent opportunity for students who are considering teaching as a career to add an international component to their degree program. The program is best suited for students majoring in education, liberal studies, child development or a closely related field. After taking a Spanish language placement exam upon arrival, Students enroll in Spanish language courses appropriate to their level. Additionally, students take courses in Latin American civilization, intercultural communication and the Mexican education system. Each semester, students also experience education in Mexico through classroom observation and participation in public and private schools at the primary and/or secondary level in Querétaro. Through coursework at the Tec and assisting teachers in schools, students gain valuable experience in working with Mexican children in school settings while enhancing their understanding of the Spanish language and Mexican culture.

For additional academic information about this program, please refer to the CSU IP Academic Bulletin for most current year by clicking here and La META program flyer. Note that course offerings are subject to change and may not be offered during the year of intended study.

It is located near the ancient capitals of the Aztecs and the Toltecs, and is growing as an important business and industrial center.
