PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The CSU IP Italy program is located in Florence at the CSU Study Center. This program is administered by a Resident Director and full-time local staff. Each year, about 100 CSU students participate in the CSU IP Italy program and attend courses at the Center. The fields of study offered are architecture, art history, history and classics, Italian language, international relations, Italian studies, literature, political science, and studio art.

Italy - ArtStudents participating in the Studio Art program take courses the CSU Study Center as well as at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze and the Scuola del Nudo. The program begins with a required 5 credit Preparatory Language Program (PLP), offering students Italian language instruction at the beginning, intermediate or advanced levels. Participants are introduced to the culture of Florence and to contemporary Italian society through lectures during the PLP.

All Studio Art students will be required to take a portfolio to Florence to provide samples of their art work.  Students should provide at the best sample images of their art, as well as a variety of works (paintings, drawings, sculptures, mixed media, etc.).  It is recommended that students have at least 10 to 15 images, either printed out or in digital/photograph format.
