PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Germany: Language & Culture at University of Tübingen program is associated with the State of Baden-Württemberg, which is in southwest Germany and is home to world-renowned universities. The Germany: Language & Culture at University of Tübingen program is coordinated by a CSU on-site staff member and the Office of International Relations at the University of Tübingen. Students from every major are encouraged to participate, as a wide variety of educational opportunities are offered.Students celebrating Oktoberfest

The program begins with a six week Preparatory Language Program (PLP) in Horb, a small town near Tübingen.  PLP courses offer instruction in German grammar, reading, writing and conversation and often include cultural excursions.  After completion of the PLP, students return to Tübingen, and during the fall semester (October- February) take courses in German language and culture specifically designed for the CSU program. During the spring semester, students have the option of continuing at the University of Tübingen, or attending one of the other universities/institutions in the Baden- Württemberg state.  The universities offer a wide variety of academic programs, similar to the number of campuses and programs within the CSU system.

For additional academic information about this program, please refer to the CSU IP Academic Bulletin for most current year by clicking here. Note that course offerings are subject to change and may not be offered during the year of intended study.

LOCATION

Tübingen is a traditional university town in central Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is situated 19 miles south of the state capital, Stuttgart, on a ridge between the Neckar and Ammer rivers. Immediately north of the city lies the Schönbuch, a densely wooded nature park. Tübingen is a student town, with approximately one in three residents being a university student. Baden-Württemberg is the third largest state in the Federal Republic of Germany and one of the most economically powerful, with a focus on research and development.

HOUSING

During the PLP in Horb, students live with host families, as arranged by the CSU IP staff in Germany. In Tübingen, students have a variety of dormitory housing options available to them and the CSU IP on-site staff assist students with their arrangements.
