PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Germany: Business at Reutlingen University program is affiliated with the University of Tübingen and the University of Applied Sciences Reutlingen. CSU IP has an agreement with the State of Baden-Württemberg, which is in southwest Germany and is home to world-renowned universities, such as Tübingen and Reutlingen. The CSU IP program is administered by a Program Coordinator, based in Tübingen, who is available to students throughout the year.
The Germany: Business at Reutlingen University program begins with a six week Preparatory Language Program (PLP) in Horb, a small town near Tübingen. PLP courses offer instruction in German grammar, reading, writing and conversation and often include cultural excursions. After completion of the PLP, students continue on to participate in the CSU IP Learn German program at the University of Tübingen for the fall semester (October- February), taking courses in German language and culture specifically designed for the CSU program. For the spring semester, students enroll in European Business courses, as well as a German language course, at the University of Applied Sciences Reutlingen. Courses are taught in German and English.
More information about the courses offered at the University of Applied Sciences Reutlingen can be found here. For more information about the academic program, students may refer to the CSU IP Academic Bulletin. Note that course offerings are subject to change and may not be offered during the year of intended study.
LOCATION
The first semester of the program takes place in Tübingen, which is a traditional university town in central Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is situated 19 miles south of the state capital, Stuttgart, on a ridge between the Neckar and Ammer rivers. Immediately north of the city lies the Schönbuch, a densely wooded nature park. Tübingen is a student town, with approximately one in three residents being a university student.
The second semester takes place in Reutlingen, which is approximately ten miles southeast of Tübingen, and also part of the larger Stuttgart Metropolitan Region. Reutlingen has a population of just over 100,000 people and has a strong industrial heritage. Historically, the city was home to a thriving textile industry, which has now been replaced by electronics and manufacturing. The city has a historic center which dates back to the late 13th century and contains one of the region’s most distinct Gothic buildings, St. Mary’s Church.
HOUSING
Housing is coordinated by CSU IP staff in Germany. During the PLP in Horb, students live with host families. In Tübingen and Reutlingen, students have a variety of dormitory options available to them and the on-site staff will assist students with these housing arrangements.
