PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Universities of Paris is an exchange program through Mission Interuniversitaire de Coordination des Échanges Franco-Américains (MICEFA), an academic exchange organization which works with several branches of the University of Paris. The program is administered by MICEFA, in association with the CSU Resident Director, who is based in Aix-en-Provence, but travels to Paris throughout the semester to provide academic advising and other assistance to CSU students in France. Students participating in this program must demonstrate autonomy and self-reliance and be prepared to function independently.

France - ParisThis program is designed for students whose preparation in French language is sufficient to permit them to enroll in French-taught courses within regular departments of the University of Paris. The program begins with a four-week intensive French Preparatory Language Program (PLP) organized by MICEFA. The PLP is designed to provide linguistic and cultural preparation for the year in Paris. MICEFA also arranges field trips and visits to local sites as an introduction to Paris.

During the fall and spring semesters, students will enroll in courses for their major and/or minor within regular departments of the University of Paris. Placement in a cooperating branch of the University of Paris will be dictated by courses available and by student language ability and preparation. A wide variety of subjects are available. In addition, students take at least one French language support course offered by MICEFA or at the Nanterre or St. Denis branches of the university.

For additional academic information about this program, please refer to the CSU IP Academic Bulletin for most current year by clicking here. Note that course offerings are subject to change and may not be offered during the year of intended study.

LOCATION

Paris, the political and cultural capital of France, is a major European city and a global center for art, fashion, and culture. Its picturesque 19th century cityscape is crisscrossed by wide boulevards and the River Seine, and is known for landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower or Notre-Dame cathedral. Students will take courses at branches of the University of Paris, which are located throughout the city.

HOUSING

Upon arrival in Paris, students are provided with temporary hotel accommodations arranged by CSU IP. During the orientation week, the on-site staff will provide students with housing information and assist them in finding permanent accommodations. Most students choose to live in local apartments.
