Mrs. Susie Morris
Advising Areas: All areas of the department including program development, faculty engagement, student initiatives, risk management, partnership development and contracts, personnel supervision, budgets and everything else.
Bio: Susie joined San Jose State University in January 2016 to serve as the Director of Study Abroad and Away in the College of Professional and Global Education.
As a linguist at heart (she studied Russian, Czech, Polish, French, Spanish, and Thai), Susie found a natural pathway to a career in international education.
In addition to running study abroad programs for over a decade, Susie lived abroad for 12 years, teaching Bachelor’s and Master's level courses focusing on Cross-cultural Communication and English language acquisition in Thailand, Russia, Spain and the U.S. Susie holds a BA in Russian from the University of Iowa and a MA in International Education with a focus on Intercultural Development from the SIT Graduate Institute. She says her passion is promoting “greater intercultural understanding, community collaboration, and positive relationships between students and the rest of the world.”
Fun Facts: Susie loves to travel and meet people from different cultures. In her spare time, Susie loves listening to her record collection, spending time with her two fat cats, working jigsaw puzzles, gardening and exploring the world.
