PROGRAM OVERVIEW
With students from 150 countries, representing nations across the world, Kingston University is a truly multicultural university which welcomes around 1,500 international students each year. Kingston offers a comprehensive welcome program, an orientation and induction events to help students transition into their new life in the UK and at Kingston University.
English universities offer three or four year undergraduate degree programs. The three year program (“course” in British terms) is usually referred to simply as a bachelor’s degree course. Four year degree courses, “honors” degrees, are designed to prepare the student for graduate study.
During the three or four years of study for the undergraduate degree, a British student takes courses (“modules” or “units”) in his or her field of study. “General education,” as it is understood in the United States is not known in the British degree structure. Students are only permitted to enroll in courses/modules in the area of study that the student is selected for with one elective allowed. All courses at Kingston, besides language courses and the British Life and Culture, are year-long courses.
For additional academic information about this program, please refer to the CSU IP Academic Bulletin for the UK for the most current year by clicking here. Note that course offerings are subject to change and may not be offered during the year of intended study.
Please note that space may be limited in this program and there may be more applicants than placements available. Students applying to this program should select a second choice program in the UK that also offers their area of study, in the event that they are not selected for participation in their first choice. The alternate program(s) should be noted on the “UK Second Choice Questionnaire” which can be found in the CSU IP application.
LOCATION
Kingston University is located in the city of Kingston upon Thames. Only 25 minutes from central London, and located on the River Thames in an affluent part of south-west London, Kingston has many shops, restaurants, and even a daily market. Kingston has the feel of a small English town, while still being extremely accessible to Central London and Heathrow airport.
HOUSING
Students arrange their own housing prior to departure using information provided by the host university. All students who apply for housing on time are eligible to live in halls, all located close to the University's campuses. Each hall consists of single-study bedrooms arranged in flats with self-catering kitchens. Other housing is also available. More information can be found here.
