2:00pm - 3:00pm Finding the Best Study Abroad Program for You!
Join us to discover all the amazing global experiences available to you at SJSU! We have programs for everyone: study abroad (international), and away (domestic), short-term (winter, spring and summer breaks), long-term (semester and year-long), virtual (throughout the year), Alternative Break Programs, community-based learning, and soon to be offered...international work integrated learning/internship programming. In this session we will provide an overview of all of our programming, discuss how a globally focused program can help you reach your personal, academic, and professional goals (and have a life changing experience), and show you how to navigate the application portal. You'll be one step closer to becoming a Global Spartan!

4:00 - 4:30 pm The Silicon Valley Innovation Challenge (SVIC)
The Silicon Valley Innovation Challenge (SVIC) is an annual business ideas competition. Their mission is to cultivate entrepreneurs at SJSU and provide the necessary tools and guidance to enable students to take their innovative business ideas to the next level. Participants in the SVIC are welcome to compete individually or in teams-- you can even work on an international team with students at our partner universities abroad! Winners of the competition receive cash awards to further advance their innovations, but all participants receive mentorship and networking opportunities from SJSU faculty, industry professionals, and proven entrepreneurs who are eager to support students throughout the entire design process. Join us to learn more about SVIC and get all your questions answered!

Are you thinking about studying or doing research abroad but not sure how to pay for it? The Boren Scholarship awards up to $25,000 for undergraduates participating in study abroad programs, and the Boren Fellowship awards up to $25,000 for graduate students completing research and language study in locations critical to U.S. interest. Join us to learn about scholarship and global opportunities in Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East!

Are you interested in studying abroad but not sure how much it costs or how to pay for it? Join this session to learn how we break down different program costs, explain how you can use financial aid and scholarships to fund your program, and give valuable tips on budgeting and more!

2:00pm - 3:00pm Gilman and Gilman-McCain Scholarships
Are you planning to study abroad next year? Whether you're still considering options or have already applied to a program, there are several scholarship opportunities that we wanted to let you know about that have upcoming deadlines. Come learn about the Gilman and Gilman-McCain Scholarships, which provide awards of up to $5,000 for students receiving Pell Grants to study abroad on credit-bearing programs. During this session, we will review eligibility, how to apply, deadlines, and tips to make a strong application!

5:30 pm - 6:30 pm Traveling Abroad with Advance Parole
Join SJSU's UndocuSpartan Student Resource Center, Study Abroad & Away and the Immigrant Legal Defense (ILD) for an informational session to learn about the options DACA holder have to travel abroad through Advance Parole. Participants will learn about the requirements, the risks, and tips to prepare for future travel plans related to employment, humanitarian, and educational purposes including the opportunity to study abroad. SJSU students, staff, and faculty are encouraged to attend. Please fill out this survey before, during, or after the session to help us gauge student needs.

A member of the Study Abroad & Away team will be tabling at the Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APID/A) Welcome Event at the Student Union Ballrooms. Stop by our table if you will be at the event to ask questions, pick up swags, and join in the celebration.

Do you like learning about food? Are you interested in Japanese culture? This international experience in summer 2022 will focus on Japanese food culture and allow you fulfill academic requirements at the same time. Join faculty leader Natsuko Tsuji to learn more about this exciting program!
