Boren Scholarship and Fellowship Info Session

Are you a faculty or staff member interested in learning how the Boren Awards can provide your students with an opportunity to build proficiency in a foreign language, immerse themselves in another culture, and launch their career in public service? The Boren Awards provide funding for students (up to $30,000!) to study less commonly taught languages in world regions critical to U.S. interests and underrepresented in study abroad. Join us to learn about these transformative scholarship opportunities that are open to SJSU students!

Finding the Best Study Abroad Program for You!

Join us to discover all the amazing global experiences available to you at SJSU! We have programs for everyone: study abroad (international), and away (domestic), short-term (winter, spring and summer breaks), long-term (semester and year-long), virtual (throughout the year), Alternative Break Programs, community-based learning, and soon to be offered...international work integrated learning/internship programming. In this session we will provide an overview of all of our programming, discuss how a globally focused program can help you reach your personal, academic, and professional goals (and have a life changing experience), and show you how to navigate the application portal. You'll be one step closer to becoming a Global Spartan!

Study abroad for the same cost of attending SJSU! Daniel Watson from the non-profit organization International Student Exchange Program (ISEP) and Vid Raatior from SJS's Study Abroad & Away office will co-facilitate this information session focusing on ISEP's study abroad program options, application process, scholarships, and any other study abroad questions.

First-Generation College Students Studying Abroad

This session is aimed at responding to the needs and questions of students who are first in their family to attend college. We will discuss study abroad opportunities, available scholarships, and answer any questions. This session is co-sponsored by The Black Leadership and Opportunity Center (The BLOC) and other centers on campus.

Money Matters: Financing Your Study Abroad

Are you interested in studying abroad but not sure how much it costs or how to pay for it? Come join staff from the Study Abroad and Away office and the Financial Aid office, as we break down different program costs, explain how you can use financial aid and scholarships to fund your program, and give valuable tips on budgeting and more!

Are you interested in studying abroad for a semester or year? Join us to learn how you can make your dream a reality through California State University International Programs (CSU IP)! On CSU IP, you pay SJSU tuition and earn SJSU credit while studying at a host university or study center abroad. Tune in to start your adventure today!

Study, Research, Teach Abroad with Fulbright Speaker: Dr. Maya deVries

Dr. Maya deVries is an Assistant Professor of Marine Biology at San José State University. She completed a Fulbright Student Research Fellowship in the coral reefs of Colón, Panamá (2010-2011). She is excited to share her life changing Fulbright experience with you and inspire you to apply to be a Fulbrighter as well.

This session will be held at the College of Professional & Global Education (CPGE) located in Student Union-West, door facing Clark Hall & the Engineering Building and live streamed by Zoom. Click on the "Register Now" button to sign up and receive the Zoom dial-in instructions.

Scholarships for Study Abroad: Gilman and Gilman-McCain

Are you planning to study abroad next year? Whether you're still considering options or have already applied to a program, there are several scholarship opportunities that we wanted to let you know about that have upcoming deadlines. Come learn about the Gilman and Gilman-McCain Scholarships, which provide awards of up to $5,000 for students receiving Pell Grants or who are dependents of active U.S. military personnel to study abroad on credit-bearing programs. During this session, we will review eligibility, how to apply, deadlines, and tips to make a strong application!
