In this summer 2021 Faculty-Led Program, students will travel to Northern Ireland and explore sporting traditions in Irish cultures, learn see how those sports have influenced U.S. culture and society, and engage in hands-on peace-building experiences working with youth through sports and games. This course (KIN 111 ITL: Sport & Movement in a Global Context – International Experience) is open to upper-division students of any major and satisfies the GE requirement for Area V.

Join Prof. Susan W. Trimingham to learn about the Winter 2021 online course that explores Japanese culture through thoughtfully curated experience of art. This course will focus on four key areas:  Wabi Sabi, Kintsugi, Ukiyo-e, and Manga.  To broaden our experience we will be meeting with guest artists who have incorporated Japanese aesthetics and philosophies into their art, and we will explore virtually how to create woodblock prints, Manga story lines, and participate in the ritual of the tea ceremony. Let’s discover how art can  give us a deeper understanding of another culture.
