PROGRAM OVERVIEWS

The Sweden: Uppsala University program is affiliated with Uppsala University. Founded in 1477, Uppsala is the oldest of Sweden’s six universities and is internationally famous for its leadership in research. The university enrolls over 25,000 students in a wide variety of disciplines.

SwedenStudents in the Sweden: Uppsala University program focus on taking courses from the areas of Humanities and the Social Sciences. This program is ideally suited for students who are doing interdisciplinary undergraduate majors, are double majors, or are completing a major and minor in any of the following areas: American Studies, Anthropology (Cultural), Cultural Studies, English or Comparative Literature, European Studies, Global Studies, History, Humanities, International Relations, Languages/Linguistics, Liberal Studies, Peace and Conflict Studies, Political Science and Social Science.

Students are fully integrated into Uppsala’s academic programs and take courses taught in English. Typically, students focus on two or three disciplines in order to meet the CSU IP requirement of taking 15 units per semester. Students may not be able to take courses from just one discipline due to course availability and scheduling of classes, and must be extremely flexible with course selection. Students are required to take one course in Swedish language. Students can elect to take an intensive Swedish language course in August, or they can take Swedish during the fall semester.

For additional academic information about this program, please refer to the CSU IP Academic Bulletin for most current year by clicking here. Note that course offerings are subject to change and may not be offered during the year of intended study.

The Sweden Media and Communications Studies program is an advanced program and is meant for students who wish to pursue a career in PR, Media, Communications or related fields. Students selected to participate must have taken at least 30 semester units in Media and Communication Studies at the time of application. (See the Course Prerequisites listed above for specific course requirements).

Students are fully integrated into Uppsala’s academic programs and take courses taught in English. Students are required to take a Swedish language course either in August (before the first semester begins) or during the fall semester. During the year, students take a prescribed list of advanced Media and Communication courses (offered in sequence) from the Department of Informatics and Media. Note that course offerings are subject to change and may not be offered during the year of intended study.
