PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The South Korea: Yonsei University program is affiliated with Yonsei University in Seoul. Yonsei is the oldest private university in South Korea and has a student population of over 30,000 students including more than 1,000 international students from 20 countries.

South KoreaThis program is suited for students from a variety of majors. Intensive Korean language study is a key feature of this program as all students take a 6 credit Korean language course in the fall semester and optional in the spring semester. Language courses are offered at the beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels. In addition to language courses, students enroll in Introduction to Korean Studies (during the fall semester) and other elective courses. Many courses are offered under the general headings of East Asian studies, international relations and international business. Students proficient in the Korean language may, with permission, take regular university courses at Yonsei.

For additional academic information about this program, please refer to the CSU IP Academic Bulletin for most current year by clicking here.  Note that course offerings are subject to change and may not be offered during the year of intended study. Students may not take more than two physical education courses per semester

Please note that space is limited in this program and there are regularly more applicants than placements available. Students applying to this program are highly encouraged to have a second choice program in the event that they are not selected for participation.

LOCATION

Yonsei University is located in South Korea’s capital city of Seoul. With a population of 12 million, Seoul is the center of political and economic life in South Korea. Yonsei University sits on a large wooded campus in Sinchon, an area of Seoul that is popular with college students due to the many trendy restaurants, shops, and cafes.

HOUSING

Students are responsible for coordinating their own housing accommodations before arriving in Seoul. Upon acceptance into the program, CSU IP will provide students with information on their housing options. Most students apply to live in International House, an on-campus dormitory, but dorm availability is limited. Students can also arrange to live in nearby boarding houses (hasuk-jibs) and the Yonsei University staff can provide assistance to students who are interested in this option.
