Pre-requisites
Students are required to take 1 term of college-level Japanese at their home CSU campus.
Students are responsible for verifying that they meet individual course pre-requisites prior to registration with the overseas institution.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW 

The University of Tsukuba is one of the oldest National universities in Japan and is ranked in the top 10 universities in Japan. The University of Tsukuba currently enrolls 16,500 students, including 1,700 international students. 

Japan - TsukubaCSU IP Tsukuba participants focus the majority of their studies on Japanese language offered by the International Student Center at the University of Tsukuba. Students will supplement their Japanese language courses by taking elective courses taught in English. Electives are typically offered in the areas of Japanese culture, international relations, biology, psychology, comparative cultures, etc.

LOCATION

The University of Tsukuba is located in the city of Tsukuba, which is often referred to as “Tsukuba Science City” as it is home to more than 30 national research institutes and over 100 private research centers. Tsukuba is 37 miles northeast of Tokyo, and is easily accessible to central Tokyo via the Tsukuba Express Line train, which takes 45 minutes. The university sits at the base of Mt. Tsukuba and is known for green and bike-friendly campus.


HOUSING

Housing is arranged prior to arrival in Japan in coordination with the University of Tsukuba. All students live in on-campus dormitories.
